Thomas Doyle has been appointed general manager of Clayton Hotel Chiswick ahead of the completion of an impressive refurbishment and extension project at the hotel costing over £20m.
London-born Doyle joins the four-star standard, 227-bedroom hotel and conference centre from Jurys Inn, where he worked his way up to becoming general manager of the company’s Islington property.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for me and an important chapter in the history of the hotel,” commented Doyle. “The completed new look will be unveiled in February 2016 when we hope local residents and businesses in the area will come and appreciate our fantastic facilities, fresh new look and welcoming feel.”
The renovation project, which began in June 2014, includes the addition of 104 bedrooms and the upgrading of existing bedrooms, a new bar and restaurant, state-of-the-art meetings and events facilities, and a lighter, more spacious reception area. The hotel has been fully operational throughout the work.
An extension and refurbishment to the hotel’s meetings and events facility gives it a dedicated area of the hotel with its own entrance and foyer, eight meeting rooms and the impressive Chiswick Ballroom, which seats up to 350 people.
Further appointments to the management team include head chef Gaurav Puri. Gaurav previously worked at Claridge’s as a sous chef. His career has also included positions at The Berkeley, The Langham London, and with the Gordon Ramsay Group.
Lukasz Klosiewicz has been appointed meetings and events manager, moving from Clayton Crown Hotel in Cricklewood.
Gaurav Dhaul becomes director of sales, joining from Grange Hotels where he was sales manager, while Lauren Cooper joins as HR manager, from Accor New Zealand.
Clayton Hotel Chiswick, formerly the Chiswick Moran Hotel, was acquired by Dalata Hotel Group as part of the €452.3m [£324m] purchase of nine hotels from Moran Bewley’s Hotel Group in February 2015. It was rebranded with the Clayton name in May.
The hotel is conveniently situated just five miles from central London and eight miles from Heathrow, opposite Gunnersbury tube station on the district line. Within walking distance is well-known business centre Chiswick Park, where companies such as Discovery, Pernod Ricard, QVC and Swarovski have offices. www.claytonhotelchiswick.com.
