HVS adds London asset management office
“Formal launch of this division was a natural and a logical progression for HVS in London, which conducts over 300 hotel related assignments a year in Europe. HVS has a database of more than 10,000 hotel financial statements and a team that truly understands both hotel operations and capital markets – key pre-requisites for developing an asset management and strategic advisory business,” said Russell Kett, managing director of HVS London.
Heading up this service in London is Saurabh Chawla (pictured left), who has previously worked on a number of feasibility and valuation studies and consulting, strategic advisory and asset management assignments in Europe, the Middle East and central Asia. Chawla’s operational experience includes various luxury hotels in operational and managerial positions throughout his native India – and prior to joining HVS in 2006 he opened a fine dining restaurant in London.
Chawla holds an MBA from the ESSEC Business School in Paris, a degree in Hotel Management and has also studied at the University of New Delhi. His interests include food and wine and he is a keen motorcyclist.
“I am really excited to be leading the Asset Management and Strategic Advisory division in London. This new role harmoniously integrates my past hotel operational experience with the hotel investment and consulting experience I have gained at HVS,” said Chawla.
Chawla and his team will offer a wide range of services, including full asset oversight, operational reviews, strategy studies, plus short-term revenue enhancement and cost containment opportunities.
Commenting on the appointment, HVS president and founder Steve Rushmore said: “We are very proud of the success and new endeavour which Saurabh has brought and will continue to bring to HVS. He has exemplified how a hard working associate can achieve partnership, and helps us in pursuing our mission of providing outstanding hospitality consulting services around the globe.”
